Readings
I chose to read The Member of the Wedding from Childhood in America I thought it was an interesting piece. There wasn't much of historical reference to it. It was about how a girl feared that she would grow into a freak. I suppose this is because of the lack of education into how people develop and grow. It gave a good look into how her mind saw things and how she was taller than most all of the people her age. From The Children's Culture Reader I chose to read From Immodesty to Innocence. This one told of how children are now sheltered from things such as sexual jokes or anything that is considered adult in nature compared to in the past when children weren't thought to have the ability to understand such things, before they reached puberty, therefore there was no reason to censor such talk in front of children.
